Product Updates

Labster Experience Upgrade

What are the new features that will be available?

(For Blackboard, Canvas, and Moodle customers) The new integration will allow you to add Labster simulations from within your Learning Management System (you no longer have to generate a common cartridge). You will also have access to our new and improved instructor dashboard, and you can access our expanded library of supplementary content (lab reports, lab manuals, 3D animations, science images) without leaving your Learning Management System.

When can I start using the new features?

Starting in January 2022, we ask that you begin using this new tool within your Learning Management System. If you are using Schoology, Sakai, and Brightspace, you can benefit from the new experience later in Spring 2022. Until then you can continue to use Labster in the way that you are used to.

What will happen to the simulations I have already assigned?

Student data will still be available to view in the Labster Dashboard link through your Learning Management System - you can always export that data if you need it. All grades synced to your Learning Management System gradebook will also remain.

Why is this update happening?

We are working hard to stay up-to-date with all the latest technology improvements available to us. Labster is excited to announce the support of the LTI 1.3 protocol with our new and improved platform. The IMS Global Learning Consortium will be ending all support for legacy versions of LTI implementations on June 30, 2022. IMS Global recommends that institutions begin using LTI 1.3 to take advantage of its features and security benefits. Find out more from IMS Global here.
