(Admin) How to Configure the Labster LTI Tool for Brightspace D2L

Prerequisites

  • You must have administrator credentials to be able to set up the LTI tool on Brightspace D2L

  • You must have received one set of unique keys (Consumer Key and Shared Secret) from the Labster customer success team

Step by Step Instructions

1) Log in to Brightspace D2L as an Administrator

2) Select External Learning Tools (LTI)

3) Select Manage Tool Providers > New Tool Provider

4) Under Tool Provider Settings:

> Enter Launch Point: https://api2.labster.com *

* Labster Launch Points by Region

Note: You will be assigned to a server by Labster Customer Support. Please use the URL specified in the email you received from Labster. If you have any questions, please reach out to our Support Team.

> Secret: Your Secret Labster Key

> Tool Consumer Information section:

  • Use custom tool consumer information instead of default: checked

  • Key: Your Labster Customer Key

  • Name: Labster

  • Description: Based on your institutional guidelines

  • Contact email: optional

> Visibility

  • Allow users to use this tool provider: checked

5) Security Settings section:

  • Send tool consumer information to tool provider: checked

  • Send context information to tool provider: checked

  • Send course information to tool provider: checked

  • Send LTI user ID and LTI role list to tool provider: checked

  • Send username to tool provider: checked

  • Send user email to tool provider: checked

  • Send system username to tool provider: NOT checked

  • Send system Org Defined ID to tool provider: checked

  • Send system role to tool provider: checked

  • Send link title to tool provider: checked

  • Make the tool provider available to: Intended Org Unit & Checked*

  • Add Org Units > All descendants > Department

6) Select the Save and Close button.
