How to Access Labster Simulations on Your iPad
If you're using an iPad to access simulations, you'll need to use our app. You can download the app here.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, ensure you have the following:
Labster App Downloaded: Download the Labster app from the App Store. Note: Do not open the app directly after installation to avoid being redirected to a standalone version.
Supported Browsers: Ensure you have Google Chrome installed on your iPad, as Safari alone may not work optimally for launching simulations.
LMS Access: Ensure you have access credentials for your LMS (Learning Management System) such as Blackboard, Canvas, D2L, Moodle, or Google Classroom.
**Note: Once that Labster app is downloaded, please do not open it directly! This will redirect you to the login portal for the standalone version of Labster which your school does not use. Instead, we'll then want to proceed with the following steps:
Step-by-Step Guide
Adjust iPad Browser Settings (If receiving any errors while attempting to access the simulations):
Open the iPad Settings app and go to Safari. Disable the following options:
Block All Cookies
Prevent Cross-Site Tracking
Block Pop-ups **(Note: If it seems like a setting is missing, scroll to the "advanced settings" section in Safari settings, as it should be there.)
Some of these settings may already be disabled, but it's important to double check to ensure that the app will work properly.
2) Next, please go to the Chrome section and enable
3) Lastly, open the Chrome browser and click the 3 dots to head to the Chrome browser's settings:
From the settings, head to the Content Settings section and turn off "Block Pop ups".
If you're having trouble with these steps, you can also follow the instructions in this video: https://www.loom.com/share/c28936e36f254cef989b11a56e58b5b2
Once these steps have been completed, please restart your iPad to ensure that those setting changes go through. After that, please sign back into your course through the Chrome app and you should now see a "play in app" button when attempting to launch that simulation! If any issues persist, please record a screen-recording of these settings, as well as what the error looks like when you attempt to access the simulation from your course. Then, send that to customer.support@labster.com, as that should help us quickly pinpoint the issue and find a resolution!
Troubleshooting
Cannot find 'Play in app' button: Ensure you are using Google Chrome and logged into your LMS.
Simulations not launching: Double-check your browser settings and confirm cross-site tracking is enabled and pop-up blocking is disabled.
Course Code Issues: Reach out to your instructor for the course code if required.
Additional Notes
These instructions are applicable across multiple LMS platforms, including Blackboard, Canvas, D2L, Moodle, and Google Classroom. The app download and browser settings steps apply only to iPads where such settings affect compatibility.
