How to access Labster’s simulations on Chromebooks

To play Labster from your Chromebook, it is recommended to download the app.

Labster’s Chromebook app allows more students than ever to have access to Labster’s 3D STEM learning experiences. Our app is designed to optimize simulation play for students using Chromebooks. Please see the instructions below.

  • Labster does not currently support simulation plays on smartphones, as the screen size on these devices is typically too small for an optimal experience in our 3D virtual simulations.

  • Educators/teachers should continue using or their Learning Management System (LMS) to create and manage courses and access Labster’s simulations.

200+ Labster simulations are currently playable on the Chromebook app. Instructors can see if a simulation is compatible by looking for the Chrome symbol next to the simulation name.

Instructions on using the App

If you plan to play Labster simulations on a Chromebook, follow these 3 steps below:

STEP 1: Download the app on your Chromebook

This will work differently for users who access Labster through their LMS (like Blackboard, Google Classroom, etc.) or directly through

  • Course Manager ( users: Simply open the app and log in with your usual Labster username and password (If you haven’t been “invited” to your Labster course yet, ask your instructor). Then find the course and simulation you want and click “Open in App” to launch the simulation!

  • LMS users: For users who access Labster through Google Classroom, Blackboard, or another learning management system, select the simulation you want to play in the usual way inside your LMS – and then click “Open in App”.

STEP 3: Play the Simulation!

Please keep the application open until the simulation fully loads. Once it loads, you’re ready to play the simulation in your Chromebook app.
