How to access Labster’s simulations on iPads

To play Labtser from your Ipad, it is recommended to download the app.

Labster’s iPad app allows more students than ever to have access to Labster’s 3D STEM learning experiences. Our app is designed to optimize simulation play for students using iPads.

It is currently compatible with the iPad 5th Gen, iPad Mini 4, iPad Air 2, iPad Pro, and all newer versions of the device (using iOS 15 or higher). See instructions.

  • Labster does not currently support simulation plays on iPhones or other smartphones, as the screen size on these devices is typically too small for an optimal experience in our 3D virtual simulations.

  • Educators/teachers should continue using or their Learning Management System (LMS) to create and manage courses and access Labster’s simulations.

  • The iPad app is not currently compatible with the following Learning Management Systems (LMS): Canvas, Brightspace/D2L, Schoology, Sakai, Sophia.

200+ Labster simulations are currently playable on the iPad app. Instructors can see if a simulation is compatible by looking for the Apple symbol next to the simulation name.

Instructions on using the App

If you plan to play Labster simulations on an iPad, follow these 3 steps below:

STEP 1: Download the app on your iPad

Visit the Apple App Store, search for Labster, then download the Labster iPad app. Or you can simply click here to download.

NOTE: Users who access Labster through their learning management system (LMS) will not be able to log in to the app just yet. See Step 2.

STEP 2: Launch your simulations using the app.

This will work differently for users who access Labster through their LMS (like Blackboard, Google Classroom, etc.) or directly through

  • Course Manager ( Simply open the iPad app and log in with your usual Labster username and password (If you haven’t been “invited” to your Labster course yet, ask your instructor). Then find the course and simulation you want and click “Open in App” to launch the simulation!

  • LMS users: For users who access Labster through Google Classroom, Blackboard, or another supported Learning Management System, select the simulation you want to play in the usual way inside your LMS – and then click “Open in App”.

STEP 3: Play the Simulation!

Please keep the application open until the simulation fully loads. Once it loads, you’re ready to play the simulation in your iPad app!

Enjoy the touchscreen features and optimized app play experience. If you need to pause or exit the simulation at any time, simply press the Menu on the top left corner of the screen. As always, your progress and scores will be automatically saved to your Labster account.
